SAMPLING DEVICES

Accurate air quality assessment begins with selecting the right sampling strategy. Our range of sampling devices supports both intermittent and continuous monitoring approaches—each suited to different analytical goals, regulatory requirements, and environmental conditions.

INTERMITTENT AIR MONITORING

Air samples are collected manually or using semi-automated equipment at predefined intervals—typically once per day, per week, or over several days. Unlike continuous monitoring systems, which deliver real-time data, discontinuous sampling focuses on capturing representative particle samples over a specified period. These samples are collected on filters or substrates and subsequently analyzed to determine mass concentration, chemical composition, morphology, and other characteristics.
This approach is particularly useful for regulatory compliance, source attribution, or when high-resolution chemical or elemental analysis is required. It also offers greater flexibility in deployment and can be more cost-effective in environments where continuous monitoring is not necessary or feasible.

CONTINUOUS AIR MONITORING

Continuous monitoring involves the use of automated instruments that measure air pollutants in real time or at high-frequency intervals (e.g. every minute or hour). These systems operate 24/7 and are typically installed at fixed locations to provide uninterrupted data on pollutant levels such as PM10, PM2.5, NO₂, O₃, CO, and others.
The data collected is processed and often transmitted automatically to centralized databases, enabling immediate analysis, trend detection, compliance verification, and the issuance of public health alerts when thresholds are exceeded.
Continuous monitoring is essential in urban settings, near industrial facilities, or along high-traffic corridors where pollution levels fluctuate rapidly and detailed temporal resolution is critical. It is also widely used by regulatory agencies and research institutions for air quality modeling and policy evaluation.
